Tool Room Assistants at Transportation Technologies work to maintain a safe and organized area in and around the Tool Room. They work to support Tool Room Manager and Technicians in their roles, plus support Students needing to use tools for classroom projects. Student Employees selected as Tool Room Assistants have multiple tasks during each work shift.
Essential Functions:
- Use a computer system to sign tools in and out for Student use on projects
- Clean tools as needed
- Clean Tool Room areas, especially the window table
- Organize tools according to proper locations
- Clean classrooms / lab areas
- Assist with periodic administrative tasks
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Organized, self-motivating, flexible, dependable, punctual
- Communication: both verbal and written
- Computer skills (especially Microsoft Suite, Internet)
- Customer service
- Able to learn names of tools
- Moderate physical work: the ability to lift and carry no more than 40 pounds at one time
Minimum Education / Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Able to successfully pass a background check
- Must maintain good academic standing
Related details for the position:
- Weekly working hours are usually 12 to 24 based on availability and need
- $10.70 hourly wage, paid every other week by direct deposit
- Working hours are scheduled around the employee’s own class schedule
