SUMMARY

The purpose of the Production Trainer role is to support the Roofing Operations team by providing practical and effective hands-on training to enhance knowledge transfer and performance of Roofing Operations personnel. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining an engaging work environment, and supporting operations employees in safely producing quality products that exceed our customer’s expectations.


PRINCIPAL ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Promote our Safer Together culture, encouraging safety event reporting and assists Plant EHS team in safety investigations and root-case analysis as needed
  • Engages in initiatives to maintain a zero-incident culture including maintaining current certification status on all safety certification programs required for operators such as, but not limited to, LTT certification.
  • Collaborate with production supervisors, production coordinators, and the T&D Coordinator to identify hands-on training needs and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with T&D Coordinator to conduct regular assessments and audits to identify skill and performance gaps, including adjusting plans appropriately based on current training related losses.
  • Assess production processes, standard operations procedures, and safety protocols to assist in developing specific hands-on training programs.
  • Implement practical and engaging training content that support the needs of the Roofing Operations team.
  • Collaborate with the T&D Coordinator and subject matter experts to ensure accuracy and relevance of training materials.
  • Teach in both hands-on/on-the-job settings (ex: equipment functionality, troubleshooting and upset condition response) and classroom style settings (ex. new hire orientation)
  • Facilitate On-the-Job Training (OJT) Plus program for Area Trainers, equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge to train team members effectively.
  • Ability to learn and demonstrate standard operations procedures, equipment setup, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Provide constructive and real-time feedback on training process and materials, needs and gaps
  • Partner with Operations Leadership to plan and execute skills assessments, utilizing an established qualification certification process to ensure competency and identify areas for improvement; evaluate Area Trainers to ensure they are consistently applying the OJT 4 Step Method and maintaining training standards, as requested
  • Continuously improve training programs, materials, and methodologies to enhance training effectiveness, including creation or editing of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), One-Point Lessons (OPLs) and other training materials
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments and facilities to identify opportunities for process improvement and employee development.
  • Assist employees in understanding the importance of TPM and their role in driving TPM progress at the plant; Provide coaching and support to AM operators to ensure successful operator ownership and activity team participation.
  • Collaborate with the AM Pillar Leader and TPM Coordinator to support and provide guidance to operators with TPM tasks and step progression.
  • Provide additional AM support to the Operations Team, as directed by the Operations Leader, which may include compiling or creating AM team related documentation (SOPs, CILTs, 5S standards, etc.)
  • Attend daily meetings and planning sessions as needed or as requested by Operations Leader
  • Participate as a member of the T&D Pillar
  • Other reasonable responsibilities and tasks as assigned by a Leader, Supervisor, NLT


SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong safety presence, on and off the line
  • Understanding of Roofing manufacturing processes
  • Understanding of TPM theory
  • Strong mechanical or technical aptitude with the ability to train and influence others.
  • Team player with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well with others with diverse backgrounds and at various organizational levels
  • Ability to understand the critical nature of personal leadership by example
  • Capacity to work independently or with a “self-starter mindset”
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Skilled in training facilitation and committed to developing adult learning methodology, such as becoming certified through the Roofing Train the Trainer program as available
  • Ability to adapt training delivery to different audiences and learning styles.
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends and outside of scheduled shift as needed


COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE COMPENTENCIES

  • Proficiency in basic computer skills including professional email communication
  • Ability to work in SAP, RSB_POP, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and AQ


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Completed High School Diploma or GED required
  • A minimum of 1 year experience as an Operator 1 preferred.
  • A demonstrated ability to lead and influence people in a positive manner.


ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

A strong candidate should possess the ability to:


  • Ability to routinely lift up to 40 lbs without assistance
  • Ability to routinely lift up to 80 lbs with assistance
  • Work for up to 12 hours in extreme hot/cold manufacturing environment
  • Operate/sit/drive, as required during shift work lasting 12 hours.
  • Routinely ascend and descend stairs and forklift to enter work areas
  • Safeguard self with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – steel toed shoes, ear plugs, eye protection (glasses, goggles, and/or facemask) as necessary for task
  • Push/drive floor sweeping and cleaning equipment or tools as necessary for housekeeping duties
  • Schedule flexibility as needed to accommodate operation needs
