Role
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Designer to join our team. The Electrical designer is responsible for creating and designing electrical systems and components for various projects. This includes producing electrical drawings, schematics, and layouts based on specifications and industry standards. This is an opportunity for a long-term position and to join a growing company.
Responsibilities
- Prepare one-line diagrams.
- Identify and solve installation conflicts during the design process.
- Prepare floor plans showing electrical device layouts, circuitry, fixtures, equipment, etc.
- Review and create calculations for electrical loads and panel schedules.
- Prepare specifications and schedules for electrical equipment and materials.
- Size and specify electrical equipment, lighting fixtures, including raceways, fittings & panels.
- Maintain up-to-date BIM models/drawings throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with other teams within the group and/or company to identify common problems and solutions.
- Oversee deliverables to and from clients.
- Encourage coordination between disciplines.
- Ensure all design deliverables are completed on time and meet the expected quality standards.
- Provide supporting documents such as specifications and BOMs for electrical systems.
- Review and coordinate vendor submittals to ensure compliance with design requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers (PMs) and field superintendents to clarify design details and incorporate feedback for improvements.
- Review completed construction drawings for accuracy and conformity to regulations and standards and design criteria.
Requirements and Skills
- Associate, Vocational, or bachelor’s degree in design & Drafting Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Experience and competency with engineering software such as AutoCAD MEP, Revit, Navisworks, Revizto, Bluebeam, and Trimble Field Link.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Familiarity with BIM standards and protocols, including LOD (Level of Development) and BEP (BIM Execution Plan).
- Experience with COMCheck and Visual/AGI lighting software is a plus.
- Thorough knowledge of NEC and other relevant codes.
- Understanding concepts such as voltage drop, conductor sizing, and conduit fill calculations.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, construction processes, and industry standards.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Experience with clash detection, coordination, and resolution of multi-discipline models.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills for collaborating with team members and stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a project team.
- Motivated, well-organized, and capable of taking ownership of assignments from conception to completion.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines within aggressive schedules.
- This is a Monday - Friday in Fort Worth, Tx office work schedule position.
