About the Opportunity:
The Sales Tax Accountant will be involved in all areas of sales tax compliance and reporting to ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations in an accurate and timely fashion. This position will serve as an internal resource by quantifying, analysing and reporting on transaction-based taxes, and provide support for all sales tax obligations of our US entities.
This position is a part-time, non-benefited and will work on-site at the Concord, MA office location 3 days per week. There is potential for this position to become full-time.
Main Tasks & Responsibilities:
Monthly preparation sales & use tax reports and return filings
Completion of monthly account reconciliations for sales tax G/L accounts
Monitoring sales & use tax obligations, including analysing taxability of transactions and applicability of exemptions
Maintaining exemption certificates and sales tax matrices
Research and resolve tax authority inquiries and assist with defending tax audits
Contribute to the annual business filing administration for various US entities
Conduct tax research and handle special projects as needed.
Essential Skills, Qualifications and Education Needed:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related discipline
At least 2 years of sales tax compliance experience
Knowledge of US GAAP, accounting close, accounting related principles
Ability to effectively manage projects, prioritize and multi-task
An energetic and positive, can-do approach
Efficiently handle multiple tasks simultaneously, while prioritizing effectively
Diligent and well organized with a responsible attitude and attention to detail
Able to work independently within the framework of a multi-layered, global team that operates in several different time zones
Willingness to develop as a consultant to Company management and staff on tax-related issues.
Strong Proficiency in Microsoft applications including Excel (in particular), Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as other common accounting software
Experience with Infor ERP and Avalara sales tax applications preferred
