Job summary
The post holder will work in the Community Radiology Department and will be mainly based at the Abingdon Hospital Centre assisting the radiographic staff in the smooth running of the department. Cross site working may be required at Bicester and Witney Hospitals.
The Community Radiology department offers a 7 day a week walk in service for GP patients, Minor injuries Unit, wards and out patient referrals.
The post holder will work closely with all staff, in particular, radiographers to assist with delivering a high standard of care.
Main duties of the job
- Supporting Radiographers with plain film imaging.
- Daily checks to be completed in the department.
- Support other Radiology Assistants and Admin staff.
- Assist with ordering , receiving equipment & placing in the store cupboard.

Introduce and welcome patients in the waiting area, confirming their identity according to the Trust Policy.Show compassion, sensitivity and understand the anxiety and fear prior to the patients procedure.To demonstrate high standards of hand hygiene following the 5 moments and knowledge of the Infection Control Policy.Maintain the patients dignity and privacy at all timesTo answer the telephone, dealing with enquiries promptly and courteously, taking appropriate action or referring to the correct member of the Radiology Team.To demonstrate good communication skills when dealing with patients, relatives and members of the Multidisciplinary Team, utilizing sensitivity, empathy and the ability to manage conflict.Act as a patients escort taking them to the changing rooms, preparing them for the relevant procedure and escorting them to the correct area for the procedure.To be fully conversant and adhere to infection control and COSHH policies to prevent cross infection and hazards.To maintain accurate and legible patient and departmental records.To demonstrate initiative and the ability to identify changes in a patients conditionTo assist with patient moving and handling, using correct methods and equipment as required.
