Job Role: Entry-Level Harbormaster I
Key Responsibilities:
- Support senior staff in overseeing day-to-day port operations, including vessel traffic management and cargo handling activities.
- Learn and apply district regulations, safety protocols, and environmental guidelines to ensure efficient and safe operation of the port.
- Foster strong relationships with harbor users to improve customer satisfaction and create a welcoming port environment.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive record of ship's registry and characteristics, including photographs of deep draft vessels in port as necessary.
- Collaborate with facilities personnel to complete customer requests.
Qualifications:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required; relevant coursework in maritime studies, business administration, or related field is preferred.
Additional Requirements:
- A current, valid California Class C driver's license at time of appointment and maintained thereafter to operate a vehicle on district business.
- Ability to swim.
- Incumbent must pass a background check in accordance with current Federal and State Maritime facilities requirements.
