Description

Missions

  • Provide support to cosmetic chemists by performing routine bench work, analytical tests, and administrative tasks.

Scope

  • Performs a variety of routine laboratory functions related color cosmetic and skin care formulation under supervision of the Lab Manager.

Functions

  1. Ability to carry out “day to day” projects, based on Product Development Requests (PDRs) and QC testing.
  2. Ensure all assigned tasks and/or tests are properly and consistently performed according to schedule.
  3. Communicate to the manager any issues related to the project feasibility.
  4. Become familiar with color matching techniques.
  5. Remake formula, run stability test, conduct fill weight, and drop test for powder products.
  6. Participate from Training Programs when required.
  7. Adhere to safety rules and procedures.
  8. Keep time schedule for submissions to the Marketing Department.
  9. Actively participate in department meetings.
  10. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform essential job functions.
  11. Responsible for the care and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  12. Manage laboratory batch retains library: 
  13. Keep batches organized, identify when new retains are needed because of expiration or use up. 
  14. Supports the raw material, bulk, formula and finished good information gathering and storage: 
  15. Prepare Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), Technical Data sheets, formula process and specifications. 
  16. Provide support to Chemist and NPI Team for piloting release of batches.
  17. Maintain inventory of lab supplies & raw materials.
  18. Participate actively in the evaluation of raw materials, including MSDS review and new item codification.
  19. Keep records up to date and accurate and maintain files or relevant documentation in central repository.
  20. Follow documented procedures and standards.
  21. Manage raw material, formula and finished good information to ensure data integrity (e.g. INCI name, information of product flammability or hazardous state).
  22. Work closely with chemists and purchasing team on raw ingredient equivalences.
  23. Keep workstation clean and organized.
  24. Performed other duties as assigned.

  1. # of submissions adhering to schedule.
  2. # of successful approved shade matches.

Qualifications


Education

  • Associate degree in a technical related field or,
  • Technical degree in related field.

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience as Lab Technician in manufacturing environment or,
  • Experience with color cosmetics formulations and color matching techniques.
