Description
Missions
- Provide support to cosmetic chemists by performing routine bench work, analytical tests, and administrative tasks.
Scope
- Performs a variety of routine laboratory functions related color cosmetic and skin care formulation under supervision of the Lab Manager.
Functions
- Ability to carry out “day to day” projects, based on Product Development Requests (PDRs) and QC testing.
- Ensure all assigned tasks and/or tests are properly and consistently performed according to schedule.
- Communicate to the manager any issues related to the project feasibility.
- Become familiar with color matching techniques.
- Remake formula, run stability test, conduct fill weight, and drop test for powder products.
- Participate from Training Programs when required.
- Adhere to safety rules and procedures.
- Keep time schedule for submissions to the Marketing Department.
- Actively participate in department meetings.
- Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform essential job functions.
- Responsible for the care and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Manage laboratory batch retains library:
- Keep batches organized, identify when new retains are needed because of expiration or use up.
- Supports the raw material, bulk, formula and finished good information gathering and storage:
- Prepare Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), Technical Data sheets, formula process and specifications.
- Provide support to Chemist and NPI Team for piloting release of batches.
- Maintain inventory of lab supplies & raw materials.
- Participate actively in the evaluation of raw materials, including MSDS review and new item codification.
- Keep records up to date and accurate and maintain files or relevant documentation in central repository.
- Follow documented procedures and standards.
- Manage raw material, formula and finished good information to ensure data integrity (e.g. INCI name, information of product flammability or hazardous state).
- Work closely with chemists and purchasing team on raw ingredient equivalences.
- Keep workstation clean and organized.
- Performed other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education
- Associate degree in a technical related field or,
- Technical degree in related field.
Work Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience as Lab Technician in manufacturing environment or,
- Experience with color cosmetics formulations and color matching techniques.
