SUMMARY: The Production Planning Specialist will have the responsibility of ensuring the appropriate supply of cost-efficient and high-quality materials required to maintain steady production and product delivery.
As a Production Planning Specialist, you will be responsible for the timely and adequate supply of materials needed for production based on sales forecast and production plans. Purchasing responsibility of this position will include selection of sources of supply finalization in terms of purchase, placement of purchase orders, follow-up, maintenance of smooth relations with suppliers, and evaluating and rating suppliers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Conducting records/documents review on an on-going basis.
- Scheduling and overseeing the supply and delivery of raw materials for production
- Determining the required materials and generating purchase orders
- Ensuring materials meet specifications, quality standards, and are cost-efficient
- Ensuring the consistent and adequate supply of materials necessary for production
- Tracking production volume and monitoring demand patterns and purchasing trends
- Creating / Maintaining daily perpetual raw-material inventory schedules
- Liaising with customers, suppliers, and distributors
- Communicating with suppliers regarding order status and changes in delivery dates or quantities
- Managing raw-material inventory issues, schedule changes, and cancellations
- Preparing cost estimates and performance reports
- Participating in assigned Job Safety Analysis tasks as required
- Supporting Production Receiving, as needed
- Other tasks as assigned by Management.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. Undergraduate Degree in a related field (or equivalent experience) plus five (5) years’ experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment with continuous improvement leadership experience Strong leadership capabilities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment required. Previous experience in the food/beverage manufacturing industry preferred.
- Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret written instructions.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited/ standardization exists. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions, supplied in both oral and written format.
- Computer Skills: Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), with the ability to lean new applications as required.

- Other Skills and Abilities: An understanding of ISO, responsibility for Food Safety /Food Quality, and the responsibility to take action when notified or made aware of any Food Safety or Food Quality issue. Must be flexible to work alternate shifts if production needs allow.
