Job Summary:
The Lead Medicolegal Death Investigator is responsible for conducting death investigations and providing guidance and support to junior investigators. This position requires a strong understanding of forensic science, investigative techniques, and medical terminology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts death investigations, including evaluating scenes, collecting evidence, and interviewing witnesses and next-of-kin
- Determines cause and manner of death, including whether to perform autopsies or other laboratory tests
- Preserves and documents evidence, including toxicology and autopsy reports
- Establishes positive decedent identification through scientific methods
- Notifies next-of-kin or assists with searches for next-of-kin when necessary
Requirements:
- Requires 3-5 years' experience in death investigations
- Must have knowledge of medical terminology, forensic science, and investigative techniques
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
