Senior Accountant / Projects Controller
PURPOSE
Performs accounting entries, maintains balances and ledgers, and performs monthly, quarterly and year-end closings. Is able to assist with other finance duties when required
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage and ensure all employees are working in compliance with all Mine and MSHA safety guidelines and procedures.
Manage and ensure all employees and contractors are working in compliance with all Mine standard operating procedures.
Ensure that all employees and contractors are certified to execute the tasks / jobs they are assigned.
Behave in a way that demonstrates support of the company's Vision and Values
Lead period-end close activities.
Prepare and record finance journal entries.
Maintain and reconcile GL accounts & trial balances.
Prepare supporting schedules for period end close.
Assist with analyzing monthly costs variances, financial and tax audits, tax returns preparation, and other corporate and legal reporting.
Process bank transactions and reconcile accounts
Assist in documenting and monitoring of internal controls process.
Run month-end close procedures in SAP, including settling work orders / projects and closing / opening periods
Maintain Project / Fixed Asset module of SAP, including generating asset continuity schedules for period ends
Responsible for but not limited to all tasks / duties assigned or required

AFE Report
Create WBS Project
Link WBSs to Class Assignment
Send email out on AFE & WBS Approval & Creation
Review & Approve PRs
Close Project WBSs
Update Project Closure Tracker
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge
Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance.
Minimum 5 years accounting / finance experience.
Finance experience in the mining industry a plus.
Proficient in computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office) with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel.
Ability to work well in a fluid, team environment.
Valid Driver's License.
Able to speak, comprehend, read, and write English.
Key Competencies / Skills
Proficient in math and computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office) with an emphasison Microsoft Excel.
CPA designation a plus
SAP experience in finance / cost data entry, updating and reporting
