Position Overview
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our growing team. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated leader, committed to supporting team and client success. The candidate will work closely with, and under the supervision of, our senior engineering staff to design mechanical, plumbing and fire protection systems.
What You’ll Do
- Design & Documentation
- Perform load calculations, duct/pipe sizing, and energy modeling using Trane TRACE, HAP, or IES VE.
- Lead drawing production using Revit and ensure coordination with other building systems and consultants.
- Prepare detailed construction documents including drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Project Support
- Conduct site visits alongside senior engineers to gather field data and ensure design feasibility.
- Review construction submittals and shop drawings for technical compliance.
- Interface with clients, architects, and vendors to communicate design intent.
- Team Collaboration & Growth
- Mentor junior staff, interns, and EIT I team members.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and participate in continuing education and training.
- Collaborate with internal and external team members on design and construction.
What We’re Looking For:
Must Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
- 2 years of relevant work experience
- FE Registration with potential for PE licensure
- Proficiency in Revit
- Experience with industry load calculation software (e.g., Trane TRACE, Carrier HAP, IES VE)
- Competent with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams)
- Familiarity with relevant building codes and standards
- Clear written and oral communication skills – ability to communicate accurately and concisely.
