Overall Purpose
The Float Patient Service Specialist (PSS) is responsible for supporting the front desk and administrative operations across various clinic locations within the P3 Medical Group. This position serves as a flexible resource to provide staffing coverage where needed—including rural and high-need clinics. When not assigned to a clinic, the Float PSS will perform administrative duties at the Shared Services office. This role is essential in ensuring a welcoming, organized, and efficient environment for our patients and their families.
Work Location & Schedule
- Home base: Shared Services Office
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 5/8s (8 hours per day)
- Travel: Required throughout the Medical Group footprint, including rural areas
Essential Functions
- Greet and check in patients in a friendly and professional manner
- Verify patient demographics and insurance information
- Schedule appointments and follow-ups, manage cancellations and reschedules
- Answer multi-line phone system and handle patient inquiries or direct them appropriately
- Assist with administrative tasks such as scanning, faxing, and managing medical records
- Ensure waiting area is tidy and welcoming
- Support back office staff and providers as needed
- Work independently in various clinic environments with minimal supervision
- Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Contribute to clinic workflow efficiency and positive patient experience

Experience
- 1 years’ experience in a healthcare-related field
- Familiarity with Athena or Cerner a plus
- Previous experience in a float or multi-site position is highly preferred
Education
- High school diploma/GED required
Licenses & Certifications
- None required; BLS preferred
Additional Requirements
- Reliable transportation is required for travel to various clinic locations
- Must be comfortable with occasional last-minute schedule or location changes
- Mileage reimbursement provided per company policy
