Job Description
Oligonucleotide Chemist
We are seeking a highly motivated chemist with expertise in the design and synthesis of therapeutic oligonucleotides to support drug discovery and development programs. Our clients include biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies from startups to global operations.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute experiments, analyze data, and understand the reliability of results.
- Present results and planned experiments clearly and concisely both verbally and in written reports.
- Maintain a strong awareness of scientific literature relevant to expertise and assigned projects.
- Maintain equipment and troubleshoot problems as needed.
- Continuously improve technical skills and acquire knowledge specific to the pharmaceutical industry.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in chemistry, chemical engineering, biochemistry, or closely related discipline with 0-3 years of industry experience or M.S./B.S. with 5 years of industry experience synthesizing oligonucleotides and/or peptides.
- Hands-on experience with oligonucleotide or peptide sequencers as well as common analytical instruments and techniques (e.g., UV/Vis, HPLC, LC-MS) for analysis of synthetic products.
- Experience with highly modified therapeutic oligonucleotides (e.g., ASO, siRNA, sgRNA) and ability to conjugate oligonucleotides to peptides/proteins or lipids is highly desired.
- Established track record of significant contributions as an individual technical expert as well as the ability to thrive in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills as well as polished presentation skills.
- Flexibility and outstanding time management skills.
