Position Description: Pacelli Catholic Schools seeks a strategic Development Directorto join its leadership team. This integral position will contribute to the advancement of the organization’s mission to educate students in the Catholic intellectual tradition, providing a lifelong foundation grounded in Christ’s love, faith in God, service to community, and academic achievement that inspires students to “Be More.” A visionary leader who will collaborate closely with the President of the School and oversee all aspects of fundraising, marketing and communication and donor engagement to drive contributed revenue, alumni, communication and volunteer engagement goals.
Strategic Planning and Fundraising Leadership:
- Develop and implement fundraising strategies to meet Pacelli’s organizational goals.
- Set annual fundraising goals and monitor progress.
- Present progress and data-driven updates on fundraising to the Leadership Team and the Board.
- Work closely with the President of School, Principal, Board Members, and other key stakeholders to align fundraising efforts with the organization’s mission.
- Develop and manage the development department budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Remain informed on best practices, trends and innovations in fundraising and philanthropy particularly in the private-school sector.
Individual & Grant Fundraising:
- Identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships with major donors, foundations, and corporate sponsors.
- Use donor data to assess trends and develop strategies for year-over-year increases in overall giving, donor retention, and donor engagement.
- Produce strategic digital and print appeals relying on data and development best practices including our End of Year Appeal, Give to the Max Day, etc.
- Ensure that all gifts are entered in the donor database in a timely and accurate manner.
- Print and mail acknowledgement letters for all donations within a week of receiving a donation.
- Plan and execute donor recognition programs and ensure consistent, personalized donor communication in partnership with President of School, Principal and Board Members
- Research, write and submit grant proposals and budgets to foundations, government agencies and corporations.
- Manage the grant process ensuring compliance along with timely and effective reporting.
Marketing and Communications for Fundraising:
- Oversee or collaborate on the development of fundraising materials, such as newsletters, brochures, and print/digital campaigns.
- Leverage social media and digital marketing strategies to reach broader audiences.
- Represent Pacelli at community events while effectively communicating the organization’s story and increasing visibility of the organization.

- Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, decision-making, and leadership skills.
- Ability to assess trends and analyze data in addition to and preparing recommendations.
- Desire to work as part of a team with a passion to promote the mission and values of Pacelli Catholic Schools.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to multi-task and organization capabilities.
- Must be able to demonstrate an ability to be responsive in an effective manner, while maintaining a warm, relational and supportive atmosphere.
- Able to maintain confidentiality for all pertinent donor/client information.
- Possess the skills to work with and motivate staff, board members and volunteers with varying degrees of experience/knowledge.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision – self-motivated, confident, and trustworthy.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Experience in supervising development personnel.
- Proficiency with Raiser’s Edge or other CRM.
- Strong computer skills, including demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite and the Google Suite.
