Computer Numerical Control Machinist

Essential duties and responsibilities:

• Read and understand process sheets, blueprints, and sketches of parts to determine machining requirements, dimensional specifications, setup, and operating instructions.
• Mount workpieces between centers, in chucks, or in fixtures.
• Depress buttons and start machining operations on one or more machine tools.
• Observe numerical displays on the control panel and compare with process sheet data to verify dimensional adjustments, feed rates, and machining speeds.
• Make size and tooling offset changes as needed.
• Read and understand most G/M codes.
• Inspect the first-run piece and spot-check succeeding pieces for conformance to specifications.
• Study job packets and organize materials for the next run during automatic controlled cycles.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including the machine and floor.
• Ensure the machine, floor, and work area are clean at the start of the incoming shift.
• Accurately complete timecards, process sheets, and tub cards, and properly tag and place rejected materials in the designated location by the end of the shift.
• Perform machine setups with a low degree of difficulty independently within the allocated time frame.
• Complete first article inspection.
