What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Flight Instructor (CFI or CFII) position at Pacific Aviation Northwest, Inc.?
Pacific Aviation NW seeks motivated Certified Flight Instructors (CFI or CFII) to join our busy flight school in Southern Oregon. Must be able to work weekends and flexible hours with a positive attitude and the willingness to be a team player. Salary based on instruction and flight hours.
Duties:
- Conduct flight and ground training in accordance with Part 61 FAA procedures and regulations for students to receive pilot certification. Providing mentorship to students throughout the process
- Provide instruction in our high school student training program
- Provide FAA Part 107 drone instruction
- Provide safe aircraft operation and outstanding customer service
- Assist in the development and revision of training materials
- Conduct ferry flights as needed
- Conduct introductory flights to promote a course of flying to potential students
- Maintain flight training standards as outlined by FAA and company policy
- Accurately maintain all appropriate records including student training records, student logbooks, flight documentation, endorsements, computer records, etc.
- Monitor the maintenance condition of aircraft and inform the company
- File incident reports as necessary to report any observed safety violations
- Attend administrative, standardization, in-service training, and instructor development meetings as assigned, and
- Perform additional duties as requested
Requirements:
- Valid US Passport or US Birth Certificate required
- Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) or Certified Flight Instructor Instrument (CFII) certificate, required
- Have and maintain, at minimum, a current Class II FAA Medical Certificate, required
- Understand the rules and regulations for FAA Part 61
- Have current or the ability to obtain FAA Part 107 certificate
- Excellent communication skills
- Detailed knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations, air traffic control procedures, and aircraft systems
- Proficient with aircraft piloting skills including familiarity with and the ability to perform required flight maneuvers and procedures
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced and noisy environment while exercising sound judgment at all times
- Move about in the aircraft and perform all required functions freely, effectively, and quickly in a confined environment
- Able to work in a professional capacity in an independent position
- Be able to critically analyze flight student weaknesses and make recommendations for improvement
- Be self-motivated, have good energy, be engaging, and have a desire to teach
- Be flexible as needed
- Computer literate
- Available for evening and weekend classes as needed
- Ability to work without direct management supervision
