Pacific Buddhist Academy seeks a talented, highly qualified STEM/Life Sciences teacher to teach life sciences and math courses to high school students.

PBA utilizes a “physics first” science curriculum that culminates in the senior year in either a more advanced engineering-focused physics experience or a conservation-focused environmental science experience in the senior year as part of PBA’s senior year program. Because of PBA’s mission of peace and Buddhist values, the science and “peace core” lines of courses focus on conservation and human effects on the environment.

The schools emphasizes opportunities for seniors to apply academics through action research and community engagement as conducted in various disciplines. Seniors participate as a cohort in seminars spanning environmental science/engineering, language arts, history and philosophy, and social science, in addition to life skills seminars designed to ready them for their lives as adults.

The STEM/Life Sciences teacher PBA hires will need to be adept with differentiation. Experience in/interest in laboratory science, statistics and indigenous ways of interacting with the land are preferred.

PBA teachers are expected to teach the whole child, attending to their students’ behavioral, emotional and spiritual needs as well as their academic and developmental needs.

Duration: the full-time teaching position is for the 2024-2025 school year that will begin in early August 2024.

Position offered: full-time faculty.

Compensation: PBA’s salary is competitive and commensurate with the candidate’s experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
