Local Magazine and Media Company, is looking for an experienced, self-motivated Publisher's assistant for both personal and business duties. Some days will be in the office, other days will be remote. It will depend on deadlines, event deadlines and more.

Duties will include execution of company communications, setting up appointments both personal and professional. Managing the Publishers calendar, appointments, speaking and event schedule, as well as personal calendar and apt setting management for publisher.. Assistant will work closely with the event manager to work on event details, sales, marketing, pr and more.

The ideal candidate is an energetic, organized self-starter who enjoys keeping operations running smoothly and interacting with other hardworking professionals. Must be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. The qualified individual will have experience with customer service. Excellent verbal & written communication skills are a must.

Responsibilities and Duties

Publisher Assistant

  • Assist the publishers in the full cycle of sales
  • Assist the publishers with organizational projects
  • Assist in developing new and existing products and internal projects
  • Assist in developing various databases (VIP lists, sales lists etc. as directed)
  • Develops and/or maintains and improves business relations with all customers
  • Seeks out and targets new customers and new sales opportunities, initiates action plan to approach and secure new business
  • Manage renewal process for all expiring contracts assigned to the publisher
  • Represent magazine and other products in local organizations and attend events
  • Assist in collecting ad materials, photos, and editorial as well as delivering magazines and other additional promotional material to clients
  • Assist with the ad/editorial approval process with clients when needed
  • Conduct follow-up activities that include thank you notes, emails, posting photos etc.

Marketing/Communications Assistant

  • Assist with web updates, email marketing, collateral development, advertising, database/listing management and reporting
  • Make updates to media kits, event flyers and other collateral within your design skill set
  • Market features and magazine content on all social media outlets
  • Company social media community manager for all social media outlets
  • Create content for feeds and snippets on various social media sites
  • Manage and track link-building campaigns, coordinated with all facets of our business
  • Provide daily operations support and project management
  • Maintain and update company databases and contact lists
  • Provide general sales support for company reps
  • Customer service: answer phones, handle client and event sponsor communication, make calls to outside parties on behalf of the company
  • General office management tasks as assigned or needed
  • Research and content development for publications

Online Sales

  • Participate in all functions of sales including cold calling, appointment setting, closing of sale and execution of contract
  • Develop and implement an effective strategic online sales plan / Analyze statistics to determine business growth potential
  • Work with Publisher to sell online products to current customer base / Develop plan to offer services to past client base
  • Seek out and target new online advertising customers, initiate action plan to approach and secure new business for EM
  • Develop and/or maintain and improve business relations with all customers of EM

Other

  • Participation in ad hoc projects and anomaly assignments as directed
  • Sustain a cheerful, organized and friendly office environment, inspire others and show passion, energy and enthusiasm
  • Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor’s or associate's degree in advertising, marketing, graphics, web development, communications, English or related field
  • Has work experience or training in advertising, PR, online marketing or similar field. Communications or journalism experience ideal.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to multi-task and collaborate with publishers, editor, sales team and interns on numerous projects at once while meeting deadlines. Organizational skills a must.
  • Able to work independently and possesses an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Must have experience working in Mac environment with excellent computer skills including proficiency in Excel, Word. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
  • Understands social media universe.
  • Willingness to learn new tasks and exhibit a “whatever it takes” attitude. Proactive, resourceful, creative, and willing to ask questions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $32,517.60 - $33,000.00 per year
