What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bilingual Outreach Coordinator position at Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History?
We're hiring! We are on the lookout for a Bilingual Outreach Coordinator to join our Museum team. This full-time, benefitted position will be responsible for leading our community outreach in our new Wonder on Wheels Mobile Musuem, bringing excitement and fun to learners all over Monterey County!
Primary Responsibilities:
• Present education programs for child adult learners in outreach settings. • Develop and coordinate materials for activities. • Communicate with community partners to schedule programs. • Participates in development of policies and procedures for programs following best practices in the field. • Assists in the development and implementation of evaluation programs and participates in assessment of participant, community, and organization needs. • Builds relationships with other organizations and community partners. • Manages the logistics for the Wonder on Wheels program and is a primary operator and manager of the Wonder on Wheels electric vehicle. • May have a role in grant proposal writing and reporting and budget development for the outreach program. • Work with volunteers • Participate in professional development. • Provides support for onsite Education Programs and initiatives including coordinating our monthly Science Saturday, being one of our Summer Camp educators, and assisting with social media for the Education Program. • Collaborate with Education, Events, Guest Services, and Exhibits staff to deliver Museum-wide programs
Qualifications: • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent life experience in a natural science field. • Minimum of 2 years of direct work experience in classroom, afterschool, camp, or informal education. • Fluency in writing and speaking Spanish is required, familiarity with the communities of Monterey County is desirable • Confidence in driving and managing the maintenance of a large vehicle is required • A commitment to diversity, equity, accessibility and inclusion in education. • Collaboration and communication skills for working with staff, volunteers, museum guests, teachers, families, and children. • Passion for the mission and vision of The Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History https://www.pgmuseum.org/about • Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills. • Flexibility and ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. • Excellent organizational skills and ability to create a work plan and work independently. • Flexibility to take on responsibilities outside of your specific work plan when needed and to shift workdays and work hours to meet the needs of the program. This position requires work on every Saturday and occasional evenings. • Dedication to hands-on, inquiry-based learning. • Creativity and resourcefulness in designing activities and programs Licenses and Certification: Current CPR and First Aid certification (may be obtained on the job). Working Conditions: The Outreach Coordinator is in the field several days a week and often presents programs independently. The Outreach Coordinator is the primary person driving and managing the Wonder on Wheels vehicle and therefore must be comfortable operating a large electric vehicle (23ft). Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for standing or sitting for extended periods. Moderate lifting such as setting up 100 chairs for a lecture. The position requires the need to lift exhibit items weighing up to 40 pounds and to maneuver heavier equipment in and out of the vehicle using a lift. This position will involve working both indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. The working days/hours will vary depending on need and will require weekend and evening work.
