PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

All responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the following.  Management retains the discretion to add or change the responsibilities of the position at any time.  Position will be overseeing the Albany/Corvallis Territory.

  • Plan and supervise maintenance activities according to specifications and client expectations to assure customer satisfaction. Including, but not limited to the following areas:
    • Routing and Scheduling the daily activity of production personnel.
    • Prioritizes all seasonal issues and proactively takes advantage of weather changes to maximize productivity, safety, and customer satisfaction.
    • Timely response to customer inquiries and provide proactive communication to Area Manager or directly to clients to ensure expectations are being met.
    • Keep Area Manager informed of all changes in production related activities or issues that will impact customer’s properties.
    • Manage Direct Job Costs through establishing labor forecasts, monitoring job cost hours, and purchasing materials according to budget/bids through utilization of Aspire.
    • Walks sites prior to customer’s visits and makes sure it’s ready for a successful visit.
    • Joins Area Manager on customer site’s visits, collects information from it, assures timely completion, and provides pictures of completion to Area Manager to share with customer.
    • Manages completion of specialty services i.e. irrigation turn-on, Pre-e applications, seasonal color, aeration, etc. to meet companies’ quality expectations by insuring follow-up of each service.
    • Monitor quality of properties, identify problem areas, and facilitate planning of corrective actions if needed.
    • Walk sites with Foremen every time there are additions or changes to routes to identify areas of concern and train them to be proactive with details required.
    • Plans training opportunities on a one-on-one basis for Foreman at the job sites.
    • Act as 24/7 point of contact for Area manager and supervised production personnel to communicate and respond to issues.
    • Maintain positive working relationship with Area Managers and peers.
    • Establishes routine communication (Verbal and Written) with Area Manager to maintain constant communication as well as visiting sites together on frequency no less than monthly.
  • Ensure that Foremen and Gardeners comply with their job descriptions and coaches them on their career development. Including, but not limited to the following areas:
    • Be present during the mornings to make sure the crews are properly equipped and directed to have a successful workday.
    • Is constantly aware of site conditions by routinely visiting accounts prior and/or post service visits to properly provide guidance to crews and technicians.
    • Be present at the end of the workday to assist in any need the crews may have and to plan for the next day. Also, to comply with any other responsibility related to the cleanliness or security of the facility.
    • Promote and hold employees accountable to company policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs), report unacceptable behavior to Branch Manager.
    • Evaluates all new employees on a weekly basis for about a month to ensure company policies and expectations are being met and to make sure all new employees receive the proper feedback and training to help them succeed during their employment with PLM.
    • Evaluate crew performance on a consistent basis and coordinate formal evaluations with Branch Manager. Provide ongoing field training of the Foremen and makes sure Gardeners are being developed properly by their Foreman.
    • Develop individualized training and development plans for Gardeners that show desire, leadership, and ability to become Foreman.
    • Develop and maintain a positive work environment with supervised employees through strong leadership.
    • Demonstrates positive employee retention.
    • Facilitate conflict resolution between Foremen and/or Gardeners.
    • Document and administer progressive discipline to Foremen and Gardeners. Keeps Branch Manager, Operations Manager, and/or Personnel Director updated or involved if necessary.
    • Proposes promotions and pay increases as merited to Branch Manager.
    • Submits or facilitates all Status Change inquires to Personnel Administrator for filing.
    • Ensures that all team members are aware of and are in attendance at scheduled team, safety, and company meetings.
    • Trains, tests, and certifies all drivers working in his/her area prior to them getting behind the wheel of a company vehicle.
    • Emphasizes importance of safety procedures with crews to maintain safe work environment.
  • Accountable for the creation of LEAN maps and Gantts for all supervised properties by involving their respective Foreman to achieve high success in the creation, modification, and utilization of the company’s LEAN Program.
  • Responsible for programming all irrigation controllers and for assuring all irrigation systems are working properly.
  • Meets with Branch Manager and Company Trainer on a weekly basis to report, discuss, and plan operational issues to meet company expectations.
  • Submits monthly field and equipment inspections to Branch Manager Manager and/or Personnel Administrator.
  • Awards recognitions and collects all appropriate photos or feedback as required for EOM and AOM programs.
  • Assist Enhancement Supervisor with planning and quality control of enhancements.
  • Assure proper use, care, and inventory of company vehicles, equipment, and tools assigned.
  • Assist crews with production tasks ONLY if necessary due to urgent inquires, emergency requests, supplementing during illness, vacation, LOA, equipment breakdowns, etc.
  • Works very close with Shop Mechanics to assure all equipment is working properly and/or coordinate any equipment assignment modifications if necessary.
  • Assist crews with unexpected equipment problems and with reporting of equipment repair needs to shop mechanic.
  • Assists Branch Manager with equipment, facility, and inspections reports requested.
  • Manages cleanliness of all work areas, equipment, and tools assigned to their respected work area.
  • Reviews and/or perform all accident reports and investigations, take corrective actions to the best of your ability to prevent future accidents.
  • Serves as a member of the company’s safety advisory team.
  • Expected at work 5 days per week.
  • Provide bilingual communication between, management, clients, and crews.

 

TECHNICAL ABILITIES:

  • Bilingual communication.
  • Supervision, praise, and discipline.
  • Landscape specialized maintenance and renovation tasks, such as:
  • Spray application of pre- and post-emergent herbicides and growth regulators.
  • Tree, Shrub, and Groundcover pruning, including thinning and rejuvenation.
  • Ability to identify multiple types of plant material (Trees, Shrubs, Groundcovers, and Perennials)
  • Use of specialized equipment i.e. tractors, excavators, etc.
  • Rapid response to emergencies and customer requests.
  • Small renovations and special, technical, or detailed projects.
  • Smart controllers and irrigation system operation to ensure adequate, efficient irrigation on site by implementing PLM programming and maintenance standards (clock programming, irrigation repairs, maintenance and “tune-ups”)
  • Expertise on the use of all maintenance landscape equipment.
  • Basic computer skills, ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook as well as learn and utilize company customer management software (Aspire), correspond using email, send and receive pictures electronically, etc.
  • Abilities to use Smartphone technology.
  • Generate and assign work orders to be added to routes or individuals.
  • Verify and submit all time entry reports and Work Orders timely and accurately on a daily basis in our Aspire Software.
  • Basic mathematical skills such as addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication; calculate chemical application rates and material needs based on area.

Salary : $68,000 - $70,000
