We’re actively seeking a talented Financial Analyst II to join our CMD Sales Reporting and Analysis Team in Newport Beach, CA. This role is hybrid. We believe in empowering our employees to get work done both in and out of the office.
As a Financial Analyst II you’ll move Pacific Life, and your career, forward by providing internal business partners with insights needed to plan for and sustain profitable growth. You will fill a new role that sits on a team of 10 people in the Consumer Markets division. Your colleagues will include fellow Finance professionals.

How You’ll Help Move Us Forward
- Utilize visualization skills to put critical information in the hands of senior leaders and provide insights that will drive business decisions
- Run weekly, monthly, quarterly sales data workflows, including reviewing, future enhancements, troubleshooting, and ongoing maintenance
- Update/populate sales reporting deliverables including Sales Plan, Forecast, Compensation expense, capital consumption, and ad hoc requests
- Collaborate with other CMD teams to ensure consistency in all data reported across division
- Support the transition to Snowflake, including creating a “Sales Reporting & Analysis” table, to allow daily updating of data and dashboards
- Build infrastructure for Life & Annuity custom Commission Analysis
- Performs technical analysis to determine present and future financial performance.
- Gathers, analyzes, prepares and summarizes recommendations for financial plans, acquisition activity, trended future requirements and operating forecasts.
- Performs economic research and studies in the areas of rates of return, depreciation, working capital requirements, investment opportunities, investment performance and impact of governmental requirements.
- Uses data analysis methods to generate forecasts and “what if” scenarios to analyze trends with the goal of discovering useful information and suggesting conclusions to key stakeholders.
- May be responsible for unit’s annual budget process, expense/service fee/staff forecasts, or statistical reporting, including financial performance, variance explanations, and cost analysis.
- Responsible for supporting the business with the objective of improving its profitability.
- Manages financial plans, forecasts, and budget processes through business partnership and aligns enterprise objectives.
- Applies appropriate use of scenario planning and risk assessment techniques.
- Communicates range of potential outcomes to enable business decision-making.
- 2 years of relevant experience
- 4-year finance, economics, or accounting degree.
- Understanding of financial concepts
- Strong technical, analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills
- Strong Excel skills
- Ability to meet and manage responsibilities under tight time frames
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Takes a new perspective using existing solutions
- Works independently, receives minimal guidance
- Experience with and understanding of life and annuity insurance products
- Experience with data transformation/preparation and visualization tools such as Alteryx, Tableau or Power BI
- Knowledge of SQL
