Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive mechanical knowledge and experience in mechanical engineering principles, with a strong focus on project scheduling and root cause analysis. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement innovative solutions that meet project specifications and enhance product performance.
Responsibilities:
· Engage in the design, planning & development, testing, procurement, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of mechanical systems and components.
· Ensure system integration by collaborating with process engineers to integrate mechanical systems into the overall facility design, ensuring alignment with process requirements.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including process, electrical, instrumentation, software, procurement, and manufacturing engineers as well as site teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical designs and operations.
· Ensure the mechanical integrity and safety of systems under operational conditions, including but not limited to high-pressure, high-temperature environments, and corrosive materials.
· Ensure compliance with the industry standards and regulations.
· Ensure maintainability and long-term reliability in design to minimize downtime and optimize operational performance.
· Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments to evaluate design.
· Review detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation for manufacturing and assembly.
· Utilize simulation and modeling tools to help optimize designs, and systems as well as to improve performance as necessary.
· Oversee equipment installation, testing, and troubleshooting to confirm systems are operational and meet performance specifications before the refinery becomes operational.
· Develop and implement routine and preventative maintenance programs.
· Monitor equipment performance and diagnose failures using tools as well as reading machine trends.
· Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues during operations.
· Plan and supervise repair activities, including root cause failure analysis (RCFA).
· Evaluate and recommend system upgrades to enhance reliability or meet changing process demands. Stay updated with the latest advancements in mechanical engineering and incorporate innovative solutions into projects.
· Oversee and mentor junior engineers, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on mechanical systems in refineries and power plants. Strong understanding of materials science, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
· Strong analytical skills.
· Proven track record of successfully leading engineering projects from concept to completion.
· Experience in value engineering.
· Experience in periodical and proactive maintenance of mechanical systems.
· Experience in compliance with standards and regulations such as API, ASMI, and IEEE. Experience in international/European codes and standards is preferred.
· Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
· Able to use site tools, measurement tools, health and safety equipment, and general office supplies. Able to use Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office programs, and Microsoft Outlook.
· Familiar with computer programs used in the industry. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, MATLAB).
· Experience working with multinational teams is preferred.
· Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
· Experience in pipeline design and stress analysis is preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Prolonged periods in an environment typical of an office setting.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at a time.
- Ability to walk and stand on uneven ground, including wet, muddy, or icy conditions.
- Site visits to the construction site are required.
- Able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required for the task.
- Able to meet the physical demands of the position.
- A valid driver’s license is required for this position.
Work Environment
The work environment is typical of an office setting. Exposure to standard office equipment (computers, phones, copiers, printers, fax machines, etc.) Offices are heated and air-conditioned, with noise levels typical of an office environment. This position will require onsite visits to construction and refinery sites. Exposure to outdoor elements including heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind. Sounds typical of a construction site as well as exposure to construction machinery as well as sounds typical to refinery and cogeneration plants with rotating machinery such as steam compressors, turbines, etc.
