Machinist Apprentice Position Summary:
· Learn how to run manual and CNC lathes and mills
· Learn how to run wire EDMs
· Get hands on experience from veteran machinists
· Understand how different materials react and relieve during cutting and adjust programs as necessary.
· Read, interpret, and follow shop travelers and blueprints to complete job operations.
· Select, align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials on machines.
· Perform quality work checks to ensure the product meets quality standards, using inspection tools and devices.
The Qualified Candidate will:
· Have completed a 2 year machinist training program.
· Be flexible, willing to learn from experienced peers, and be part of a high performance team.
· Be able to interpret machine prints, GD&T, and current manufacturing plans.
· Enjoy working on a high variety of items while completing short manufacturing runs.
· Be able to use measurement equipment including, calipers, micrometers, and thread gages.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Must comply with all applicable safety requirements, policies and procedures, while maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly work environment.
· Must participate in required training, medical monitoring, safety, and health evaluations and programs.
· Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in all designated areas of facility.
· Perform all physical functions of position; standing, stooping, bending, sitting, walking, twisting, kneeling, turning and lifting of materials up to 35 lbs.
· Meet established attendance standards.
· Work overtime as needed. (Regular Shift is 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM, Monday thru Friday)
· Must report any work-related injury or illness immediately to your direct supervisor.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
