Job Title: Maintenance Manager

Overview: The Maintenance Manager is a critical member of the Packaging & Pads R Us team. Under the general supervision of the Operations Manager, the Maintenance Manager will take the lead role in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing machine lines in the plant. This role requires extensive experience in leading projects, leading small teams, mechanical expertise, electrical expertise, and a focus on continuous improvement. Candidate must take a hands-on approach to maintaining the industry specific equipment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Plant & Maintenance Operations:
  • Open plant and collaborate with the maintenance team to address immediate needs of machine operators and production leadership.
  • Provide preventive and predictive maintenance, conducting daily rounds and readings with the team.
  • Oversee project lists and coordinate priority and assignment of tasks in conjunction with the Operations manager.
  • Lead successful installation of new equipment, from installation to start-up.
  • Coordinate with contractors and vendors to maintain project scheduling and completion of maintenance and project tasks.
  • Review PM processes and work with the team on completion. Schedule maintenance jobs in direct coordination with production leadership.
  • Update work orders and provide daily reports outlining progress and new issues.
  • Identify when external contractors/vendors are needed and coordinate with them to complete work.
  • Develop and maintain maintenance inventories of materials/supplies, working with outside vendors and the internal team.
  • Perform maintenance job functions, including basic repairs to all manufacturing machinery, furnishings, and utilities.
  • Use fabrication and machining equipment to perform repairs and/or manufacture parts as necessary
  • Understand and perform installation of new equipment by creating or reading schematics.
  • Develop industry specific improvements or modifications to ensure production quality and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems and components.
  • Electrical Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshoot controls and electrical systems using amp meters, voltmeters, tracers, and recording devices.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, electrical prints, wiring diagrams, and nameplates.
  • Troubleshoot variable frequency drives (VFD) and controls.
  • Model, implement, and comply with electrical safety rules and related industry regulations.
  • Ability to program PLC controllers is preferred but not required.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Candidate must be proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience using C.A.D. software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is preferred, but not required.
  • 5-10 years of hands-on experience as a maintenance technician.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform a wide variety of maintenance and operational tasks.
  • Strong understanding of local codes and ordinances.
  • Ability to use ladders, scaffolding, forklift, and/or a scissor lift while performing job duties.
  • Ability to work with power tools, small motorized equipment, and vehicles.
  • Ability to work alone or in groups.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions, sometimes for extended periods.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and on an on-call basis as needed.
  • Team player and highly self-motivated individual.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles is preferred.
  • Experienced in implementing safety procedures in the workplace.
  • Good communication skills and ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Physical ability to walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and regularly lift and/or move 50 lbs., and occasionally lift and/or move heavy objects utilizing proper tools and leverage methods more than 100 lbs.
  • Must be able to successfully complete the required practical and/or written exams.
  • Valid Ohio driver’s license 1.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
