Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct regular maintenance on machinery, systems, and automotive vehicles.
- Meet with clients to better understand their concerns and identify the issue.
- Assemble mechanical components according to specifications.
- Examine machines and oversee diagnostic tests to determine functionality problems.
- Design a plan of action for all maintenance tasks and upgrades.
- Maintain work logs, repairs, and maintenance records.
- Monitor inventory and order new parts when necessary.
- Offer consultation on maintenance and preventative procedures to machine and vehicle users.
- Perform vehicle assessments and alert clients on issues that will prohibit their vehicles from passing inspection.
- Interface with Engineers to ensure specifications are accurate
- Interface with other Production Personnel to interpret, clarify, and bring comprehension to tasks
- Ensure conformity with applicable Rules and Coast
- Guard requirements for boat building
- Adhere to safe work practices and attend safety meetings as required
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience with various marine engines and vessels:
- Marine Mechanic II requires 4 years of experience.
- Marine Mechanic III requires 7 years of experience
- Comprehensive ability to work from plans, specifications, drawings and blueprints.
- Ability to multi‐task, organize and prioritize to meet deadlines
- Must be flexible in work hours, on call as needed
- Good verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
- Good attitude
- Must be a team player.
- In-depth knowledge of vehicle diagnostic equipment and mechanical systems.
- On occasion may be requested to work flexible hours.
- Maneuvering in tight places, uneven floors.
- Climbing up and down ladders, ramps, and stairs.
- Standing for long periods of time.
- Occasionally requires twisting, turning, bending, climbing, and walking over uneven surfaces.
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, kneel, crawl, twist, pull, push, grip, and climb.
- Lifting and moving objects weighing up to 50 lbs continuously.
- Lifting objects weighing over 50 lbs with assistance.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident of the U.S. due to Export Control purposes and to obtain security clearance required for base access
- Must be able to successfully obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
- Must be able to successfully obtain a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) credential to gain access to federally controlled work sites.
- Must be able to successfully pass an employee background check and post-offer drug screen.
