Job Description
PACO Group, Inc. (PACO) is seeking a dedicated and experienced full-time Resident Engineer for Cleaning and Sealing Exterior Masonry of the Service Building associated with the Throgs Neck Bridge (TNB), to join our team on an important project for the MTA. This project involves the exterior cleaning and sealing of masonry for the service building located adjacent to the Throgs Neck Bridge, ensuring compliance with MTA standards and enhancing the safety and reliability of our transportation infrastructure.
As a Resident Engineer, you will play a key role in managing construction operations, coordinating with contractors, reviewing submittals and shop drawings, attending progress meetings, conducting site inspections, and preparing and evaluating change orders to ensure compliance with project specifications and guidelines.
The position is approximately for a four-month period, however, often these assignments are extended for much longer periods of time.
Responsibilities
The Resident Engineer shall:
· Provide construction inspection services, collaborate with MTA C&D senior leadership, engage with internal stakeholders and appropriate personnel, and provide daily, weekly, and monthly updates to the assigned MTA Bridges & Tunnels Project Manager.
· Ensure that contractor submittals adhere to all specification terms.
· Review and track all Contractor claims including change orders, delay claims, and other claims for additional work.
· Navigate unique Project challenges, regulatory environments, and coordinate with Project Manager to resolve unforeseen conditions in the field.
· Review Contractor’s schedule and inform Project Manager of all updates/changes to the schedule.
· Perform daily quality checks of Contractor’s work.
· Prepare engineer cost estimates, review Contractor’s proposal, and participate in change order negotiation meetings with the appropriate personnel.
· Lead bi-weekly Project progress meetings, facilitating key discussions and providing actionable feedback to maintain alignment between the Contractor and TNB Facility.
· Coordinate with MTA Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering, ensuring all parties are aligned and informed throughout the Project.
· Coordinate work with any other ongoing projects that may be working at the same Project location.
· Prepare and deliver Project closeout documents, including, but not limited to, substantial completion paperwork, turnover memos, red-line drawings, as-built drawings, and punch list competition reports.
Required Qualifications and Experience
· Professional Engineering license in the state of New York
· A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience managing design and construction work.
· Demonstrated coordination, communication, and negotiation skills.
· Demonstrated knowledge in various types of civil engineering systems operations.
· Significant experience applying civil engineering specifications and standards.
· Demonstrated knowledge of industry safety standards (i.e. OSHA).
· Proven ability to manage construction projects and enforce compliance with construction standards.
· Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
· Proficient with the Microsoft Suite of products such as Excel, Access, Asite, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
· OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety Training.
