What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Billing Associate (Hybrid-Remote)) position at Pafford EMS?
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review and correct all billable claims
- Follow-up claim status check/rejection denial and resolution
- Document in account notes for billing delays and actions taken
- Review and respond to mail, correspondence, and reports
- Knowledge of billing requirements, coverage and benefits for third party payors
- Working knowledge of insurance regulations as they pertain to collection issues
- Problem solving, listening and conflict resolutions skills
- Prioritize and manage workflow
- Work independently with minimal supervision
- Experience with Medicare, Medicaid and/or MVA, VA and Commercial Insurance Billing preferred
- Experience working with insurance portals
- Knowledge of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
- Working knowledge of medical terminology/ICD-10 codes, preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Proficient with a PC
- Ability to work independently and with a group
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships.
- Thorough knowledge of office practices
- Ability to type at least 35 words per minute.
- Ability to multi-task
- Proficiency using 10 key
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must have access to high-speed internet
- Hybrid position in the Oklahoma City Area. In the office 3-4 days a week, ability to be home 1-2 days a week.
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- The employee may occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Work may require sitting, lifting, stooping, bending, stretching, walking, standing, pushing, pulling, reaching, and other physical exertion.

- Must possess visual acuity to prepare and analyze data and figures, operate a computer terminal, and operate a motor vehicle.
