The Engineering Intern will support the Manufacturing Engineer and production team in various operational, documentation, and improvement tasks in a dynamic and fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role provides hands-on experience in cosmetic product production where the candidate will develop their skills in engineering principles, Lean Manufacturing, equipment maintenance, and process optimization. The intern will contribute to the improvement of production processes and help meet the organization's goals while gaining exposure to real-world applications of manufacturing engineering concepts.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities
2D AutoCAD Layouts : Create and update 2D AutoCAD layouts for production lines, floor plans, and equipment.
Time Standards : Conduct time studies and establish time standards for production processes.
Spare Parts Documentation : Document spare part inventory for machinery, ensuring accurate records and proper organization.
Machine Identification : Ensure all machinery is properly labeled and identified in compliance with company standards.
Preventative Maintenance (PM) : Review and audit preventative maintenance procedures to verify accuracy and completion
Lean Manufacturing & 5S Implementation : Support 5S activities, including floor marking with color codes and optimizing workplace organization.
Documentation and Standardization : Document and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Create work instructions, One Point Lessons, and Standard Work Sheets. Document machine parameters to ensure consistency and accuracy.
General Support : Assist the Manufacturing Engineer with various tasks and projects as needed. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and provide input on process enhancements.
Safety and Compliance : Adhere to company safety protocols and contribute to maintaining a safe work environment.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and pull a minimum of 25 lbs.
Requires walking, standing, and sitting for extended periods.
Certain areas require the use of safety equipment, such as safety glasses in production / laboratory areas.
May involve bending, pulling, pushing, and reaching above shoulder or below waist levels.
Work Experience / Education Requirements
Currently enrolled in an accredited engineering program, preferably in their junior or senior year.
Proficiency in 2D AutoCAD; experience with layouts is a plus.
Strong attention to detail, analytical, and organizational skills.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Interest in manufacturing, process improvement, and cosmetic products.
Basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles (e.g., 5S) is preferred but not required.
