What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineering Manager position at PALA Interstate?
We are seeking an Engineering Manager to oversee and support our project engineers in the execution of API-620, API-650, and API-653 tank construction and repair projects. This role requires strong technical expertise in tank engineering, project coordination, and problem-solving to ensure project success. The position is based at our Baton Rouge office with occasional travel to job sites as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical oversight and leadership for API-620, API-650, and API-653 tank projects.
- Support project engineers with design reviews, calculations, and technical guidance.
- Review project specifications, drawings, and scopes of work to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Assist in the preparation of project schedules, cost estimates, and technical documentation.
- Work closely with procurement, estimating, and project management teams to optimize project execution.
- Utilize Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) for calculations, project tracking, data analysis, and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, client requirements, and company policies.
- Collaborate with field personnel to troubleshoot and resolve engineering challenges.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management
- 10 years of experience in API-620, API-650, and API-653 tank construction and repair.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) for data analysis and reporting.
- Knowledge of ASME pressure vessels is a plus, but not required.
- LA/TX PE Stamp is a strong plus, but not required.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- TWIC card required (can be obtained after hiring).
