What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Slot Operations position at Palace Casino Resort?
Under direct supervision of the General Manager, the Director of Slot Operations is responsible for the overall performance of the Slot Department. This includes strategic planning and leadership of all aspects of Slots Operations with a primary focus on maximizing slot machines revenue and increasing guest experience. This position will direct the improvement of slot revenue through creating a competitive advantage, analysis of slot machine performance, managing slot product, and negotiating costs, while maintaining attention to guest enjoyment and satisfaction. Oversees the department and ensures the Slot Operations floor and technical staff provide friendly and efficient service to internal and external guests and ensures slot machines are working and maintained properly.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Ensures compliance with all company policies and procedures, including Internal Controls (IC’s) and all Mississippi Gaming Commission Regulations pertaining to Slot Operations.
· Ensures Slot Department compliance with Title 31, anti-money laundering, SAR reporting and all other FinCen requirements as they pertain to slot operations.
· Develop and manage the Slot Department budget ensuring fiscal responsibility through cost controls.
· Oversees slot floor optimization through development and review of in-depth analysis. This is accomplished by identifying revenue opportunities with slot product mix and pricing, slot machine replacement cycles, and floor placement of games.
· Provides constructive feedback to General Manager on necessary changes and improvements while implementing and monitoring approved changes.
· Demonstrates an expert working knowledge of the slot industry, electronic gaming machines, and associated/related equipment products, features, setup and configurations as well as player tracking/ accounting systems features and configurations.
· Stays abreast of industry and competitor slot product and service offerings, new technologies, and cutting-edge trends significant to slot operations.
· Interacts with vendors and sales personnel concerning new products, purchases, repairs & maintenance. Oversees all contract negotiations, to ensure the best pricing, highest discounts, added incentives, and exclusive deals.
· Responsible for effectively managing, delegating duties, the performance and development of department staff; Inclusive of interviewing, hiring, training, coaching, and termination of staff.
· Assure an environment which emphasizes cooperation, communication, and teamwork with all departments.
· Promote and ensure the safety and security of all guests and associates.
· Provide exceptional guest service for all external guests and internal team members.
· Complete job duties with minimal supervision, maintain acceptable attendance, and use appropriate judgement and decision-making skills.
· Job duties, tasks, work hours, work requirements, and other duties as assigned may be added or modified at any time.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
· Prior experience using slot data management & player tracking software (IGT Advantage a plus).
· Skill in operating business computers and other office equipment in a Windows environment, specifically with Excel, Word, Access and presentation software (such as Powerpoint)
· Demonstratable experience using spreadsheet and analytic tools to develop and analyze meaningful reports.
· Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with staff and the general public.
· Must be willing to work a varied work schedule to lead a multi-shift environment, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
· The ability to deal with difficult guests in various business conditions and interpersonal skills to work effectively and courteously with fellow associates
· Ability to maintain strict confidentiality including but not limited to, employee data, player activity, financial data, marketing plans, and other info specifically to be held in confidence.
· Skills in professional management techniques. Must be accountable for the development, motivation, assessment and reward of other employees.
· Knowledge of Mississippi Gaming Commission regulations, internal controls, and policies which correspond to the operation of electronic gaming machines.
Minimum Qualifications
· Extensive knowledge of slot operations & slot equipment
· Minimum of 10 years of progressive slot department experience; prior experience as a Slot Director preferred
· Bachelor’s degree in business, gaming, or related field preferred. Experience in lieu of education will be considered.
Must qualify for and hold a valid MS Gaming Employee license
