Summary
The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the accounting and financial reporting functions of our rapidly growing company. This highly visible and dynamic role involves managing day-to-day general accounting operations, including cost accounting, in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
The Accounting Manager will collaborate with department leads to ensure exceptional service to employees and business partners. This position requires a growth-oriented, resourceful individual with hands-on experience in general ledger accounting systems, third-party tax filing solutions, and working with state agencies.
Additionally, the Accounting Manager will be the primary accounting representative during the company’s ERP (NetSuite) transformation, driving improvements in accounting functionality and reporting as we evolve to the next level of financial management.
Description
- Establish and recommend accounting best practices, systems, processes, and procedures to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance across the finance department
- Oversee and manage general accounting functions, including monthly and annual general ledger (GL) closings, sales tax reporting, bank reconciliations, cash management, budgeting, forecasting, contract management, payroll review, purchasing, and revenue reconciliations, ensuring timely and accurate financial operations
- Prepare and present consolidated financial reports to leadership, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other reports, to provide a clear understanding of the company’s current and projected financial position and guide strategic decision-making
- Collaborate independently with auditors and CPA firms to ensure the timely filing of federal, state, and local taxes, facilitate annual reviews, and manage other compliance activities to meet regulatory requirements
- Lead the Accounts Payable department by managing vendor payment schedules, ensuring favorable payment terms, and maintaining strong vendor relationships to optimize cash flow and operational efficiency
- Foster staff development by setting clear performance goals, providing ongoing training opportunities, offering constructive feedback, and maintaining strong, supportive employee relationships to cultivate a high performing, engaged team
- Perform other duties, as assigned
Key Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred
- At least 5 years of relevant background with a strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, payroll processing, and benefits administration
- Familiarity with AS400 or NetSuite is preferred, but not required
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus, but not required
- Knowledge of an ERP system implementations is preferred
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly with advanced Excel skills, is required
- Strong reasoning, analytical, and reporting skills with the ability to interpret and communicate financial data effectively
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate and build relationships across all levels of the organization
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and complex situations with professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion
- Proven ability to independently plan, organize, and execute projects, improving processes and procedures to support business objectives
- Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure to meet deadlines efficiently
Physical Requirements
