What are the responsibilities and job description for the Water Safety Instructor position at Palekana Aquatics Academy?
Palekana Aquatics Academy (PAA) is a non-profit dedicated to educating students how to be safer in, on, and around the water, and we are hiring part-time Water Safety Instructors!
We are looking for individuals who have experience in any of the following: working with children, teaching, lifeguarding, swimming or other water sports. Prior experience teaching swim lessons is not required, as we provide training on our aquatic safety curriculum. However, applicants with teaching credentials, a Lifeguard certification, or ARC WSI certification, will be preferred.
As a Water Safety Instructor, you will be providing students with vital swimming and aquatic safety skills. You will be responsible for providing skill instruction in the water, monitoring the instructional area, assisting other team members both from the deck and in the water, and creating a safe and positive learning environment for students.
Lessons will be conducted at the Palama Settlement aquatic facility (810 N Vineyard Blvd, Honolulu HI 96817). We are seeking individuals who have availability during the school day, and we encourage you to apply even if you only have one or two days available during the week. Our current schedule for the spring school quarter is still being finalized, but most likely will be between 8:00 -12:00. Pay starts at $20 per hour.
