Summary :
The Camp Healthcare Manager at Pali is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Wellness Center, ensuring the health and safety of campers and staff. This hands-on role oversees healthcare services, manages medical staff, coordinates training, and ensures compliance with health and safety regulations. The Healthcare Manager plays a key role in delivering direct care, responding to medical needs, and maintaining an efficient, well-equipped Wellness Center. This position requires strong leadership skills, practical healthcare experience, and the ability to manage medical operations in a fast-paced camp environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide wellness and medical services, focusing on minor injury treatment, illness management, medication administration, and emergency response for campers and staff.
Conduct thorough assessments of campers and staff needing first aid and provide prompt and effective care for medical concerns.Oversee health screenings for incoming campers to ensure compliance with required health standards.Staffing and SupervisionPeriodically review staffing needs and ensure the Wellness Center is appropriately staffed throughout the year.
Lead the interview and selection process for Wellness Center staff.Collaborate with Camp and Institute Directors to understand seasonal staffing needs and ensure appropriate coverage.Directly supervise Wellness Center staff, including scheduling, performance evaluations, and ongoing mentorship.Manage the Wellness Center budget, ensuring industry-best services are provided efficiently and within budget.Training and EducationDevelop and conduct health and safety training programs for all camp staff, ensuring they are well-prepared to respond to medical situations.
Assist Camp and Institute Directors with their staff training programs, integrating health and wellness components as needed.Conduct orientation sessions for new staff, providing comprehensive information about health and safety procedures.Health and Safety ManagementMaintain accurate and confidential health records for campers and staff, ensuring compliance with federal, state, local, and ACA standards.
Monitor health logs and records to track trends and address any ongoing health issues.Actively participate in the camp's risk management program, identifying and mitigating potential health and safety hazards.Annually review and update treatment procedures in consultation with a physician.Apply and integrate changes in regulations, policies, and standards of care to ensure compliance and improve health services.Inventory and Resource ManagementManage the Wellness Center's inventory, ensuring adequate supplies, medications, and equipment are available and properly maintained.
Oversee the ordering and procurement of medical supplies and equipment.Communication and CollaborationMaintain open communication with relevant personnel regarding significant health conditions affecting campers or staff.
Foster strong relationships with Camp and Institute Directors, collaborating on all aspects of camper and staff health and wellness.Act as a member of the camp's leadership team, contributing to overall camp management and decision-making.Wellness Center Business ManagementDevelop, implement, and regularly review policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and best practices to maintain the highest standards of care.
Oversee staff scheduling, ensuring optimal coverage that aligns with budget constraints and operational needs.Monitor and manage the professional development of Wellness Center staff, providing ongoing training and performance improvement strategies.Analyze operational efficiency and implement cost-effective measures to maximize resources while maintaining high-quality care.Oversee the safe storage, administration, and tracking of all medications in compliance with legal and medical guidelines.Conduct periodic audits of operations, workflows, and patient care procedures to improve service delivery and compliance.Ensure alignment between the Wellness Center's medical services and the camp's overall mission, adjusting strategies as needed to meet evolving healthcare demands.Qualifications
LicensureCurrent RN, LVN, or higher is desired.
ExperienceMinimum of five years of experience managing staff, including scheduling, supervision, and performance evaluations.
Previous experience working in a camp or youth-serving organization is highly preferred.Experience managing staff in a camp setting or a high-volume medical environment is strongly preferred.Demonstrated experience with pediatrics and young adults is essential.Skills and AbilitiesExcellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.Ability to handle high-pressure situations calmly and effectively.Proficiency in medical record keeping and compliance with health regulations.Commitment to working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.Salary and Benefits
