Position Summary/Objective
The forklift driver is responsible for pulling raw lumber for daily production. This position needs to have a thorough understanding of lumber grading and daily run lists. The position is very critical in keeping the line running. This person must be able to multi-task and work ahead to achieve the overall goals for the day. The forklift driver is responsible, at various points, for loading, unloading, sorting, staging, transporting, and otherwise handling products that come into and move out of the production lines.
Job Duties Responsibilities:
Quality assurance
- Monitor inventory levels and inform the Plant Manager/Production Supervisor of low inventory levels.
- Responsible for ensuring that damaged or flawed material is not shipped without approval from the supervisor.
- Verify the quality of the visible products.
- Notes all special instructions for filling an order.
- Straighten or realign any out-of-order product to avoid damage and safety issues.
- Assists in moving inventory for storage within the yard area as directed.
- Visually inspect all completed pallets of product for quality and conformity to the packaging instructions to ensure quality at the source.
- Store received materials in the proper location.

Accurate loading/unloading trucks
- Unload trucks when they arrive. Document any damage and ensure the goods match the paperwork before signing for it.
- Accurately pulls delivery orders and stages for loading as directed.
- Verify correct product and quantity of product.
- Store in assigned dedicated location & stock product as needed.
- Use correct storage techniques to avoid warping and damage.
- Double-check picking the correct product.
- Accurately pulls delivery orders and packages as directed.
- Load trucks per plan and ensure complete accuracy to the Bill of Lading (BOL).
Feed and remote products from workstations
- Ensure that production lines are supplied with the proper raw material to build pallets.
- Responsible to keep assigned forklift clean and organized. Schedule PM’s with maintenance for times with the least impact on daily activities.
Update paperwork
- Responsible for paperwork accuracy, if discrepancies are found he/she is responsible to review discrepancies with Supervisor.
- Assure picking material from the current “pick slip” and double-check picks before closing out the “pick slip”.
- If changes are made in quantity or material, make sure additions or changes are noted on “pick slips” and reported to customer service.
- Keep paperwork with gathered material.
- Verify product sticker matches the product it is attached to.
- Complete reports to ensure that merchandise can be moved to the appropriate shipping cart/location when ready to ship to the customer.
- Responsible to ensure that products are not moved without processing the move in the RFT scanner
Safety
- Responsible to keep assigned forklift clean and organized. Schedule PM’s with maintenance for times with the least impact on daily activities.
- Operates forklift safely at all times following all safety rules and regulations.
- Performs daily inspections of forklift(s) as required by OSHA and PSC’s standards.
Required Education and Experience:
- High school or GED preferred
- 3 years of supervisory experience preferred
- Must have at least 6 years’ experience operating a Forklift
- Must have a valid Forklift License
