What are the responsibilities and job description for the GIS SUPPORT SPECIALIST position at Palm Beach County?
Performs specialized technical work involving the creation of web maps and utilizing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for spatial analysis, database development, topology editing, data extraction, and manipulation. Converts data from various formats for integration into GIS systems. Responsibilities include documenting GIS processes and procedures, maintaining metadata, performing data quality checks to identify and correct errors or omissions, and providing GIS support and training within the Department. Work is performed with independent judgment under general supervision and is reviewed for accuracy.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in GIS, Geography, Surveying/Mapping, Engineering, Computer Science or related field; minimum of one (1) year of experience in GIS software applications. Equivalencies: Related Associate's Degree OR equivalent academic training from a technical institute/formal military education program (minimum of 900 classroom hours) OR an unrelated Bachelor's Degree AND three (3) years of related experience OR graduation from high school/equivalent recognized certification and five (5) years of related experience.
PREFERENCE FOR EXPERIENCE: Using ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Utility Network, ArcGIS Model Builder, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Experience Builder, Microsoft SQL, Python, Arcade (must specify on application). Also desirable: Knowledge of water/wastewater utility infrastructure (must specify on application); GIS Professional (GISP) Certification.
