Growing ophthalmology practice in Delray Beach is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our clinical operations.
Summary of Responsibilities:
The ophthalmic technician is responsible for performing complete patient workups and ensuring accurate chart documentation. Ability to communicate with patients, co-workers, management, and physicians is critical. The technician is to be an active listener and be responsive to patients’ needs and concerns.
List of Duties:
Promptly and professionally assisting the doctor in patient care.
Performing technical workups, patient history and special testing.
Maintaining and cleaning all equipment being used.
Returning phone calls to patients and pharmacies.
Instrument set up and assisting in minor surgery.
Demonstrated Skills Required:
Demonstrates working knowledge of eye anatomy, disease, symptoms, and ocular meds. Accurately performs:

- Pupil Exams
- Topography
- Schirmer Test
- Color Test and Stereo Test
- Dilation
- Over refraction
- Fundus Photos

- A-Scan/B-Scan/IOL Master

- Pachymetry
- Immersion
- Topography
- Fluorescein Angiography
Has a working understanding of A-Scans, fundus photos, nerve fiber analysis.
Has basic knowledge of contact lenses and can train patients on insertion and removal.
Utilizes proper eye drop technique and sterility.
Displays consistent professionalism with patients and co-workers.
Cooperates with supervisory staff and physicians to accomplish the goals of the practice.
Demonstrates flexibility in job assignment.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinic environment, adhering to HIPAA guidelines and medical office protocols.
- Maintain a positive and professional demeanor, ensuring exceptional patient care and service.
Experience Required:
- Previous experience as an Ophthalmic Technician for a minimum of one year.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Commitment to delivering exceptional patient care and service.
- High school diploma required. College degree preferred.
- COA / COT Certification preferred, but not required.
**Experience with Modernizing Medicine/EMA is a PLUS. **
