Front Desk Associate Job Description
Immediate Supervisor: Site Supervisor
General Job Summary: Primary responsibilities include greeting, checking in, and checking out patients.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Checks in/out patients and manages patient flow
- Updates patient status in EMR.
- Notifies patients of, and promotes the patient portal.
- Verifies forms are filled out completely using online registration system. Reconciles forms if needed. Monitors completion of patient forms and ensures sufficient documentation prior to patients leaving office.
- Maintains accuracy of patient demographic and insurance information by verifying this information at each patient encounter.
- Scans insurance cards and driver’s licenses as needed.
- Schedules patient appointments within operational standards and documents appropriately.
- Assists with insurance verification as needed.
- Collects copays, deductibles, coinsurance and past due balances prior to the patient being seen.
- Scans documents, and accurately labels and saves to the patient record.
- Monitors Front Desk buckets and works appointment ticklers to schedule/reschedule appointments.
- Keeps Front Desk and Waiting Room clean and sanitized per practice standards.
- Answers the telephone in a warm, friendly manner.
- Maintains patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience: Medical front office experience preferred

- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Basic computer operations and EMR
