About this role
Compiles and analyzes budget and financial information for the college in an efficient and accurate manner. Assists management in the decision-making process and strategic planning by presenting relevant financial and budget reports in a clear, concise, and timely manner. Assists departments with managing their resources and monitoring budget and accounting data to ensure compliance with statutes, regulations, and accounting principles.
What a day of a Budget Analyst looks like :
- Prepares and coordinates documentation of financial analysis projects such as budgets, forecasts, projections, expense performance, and presentations.
- Provides analytical support for forward-looking financial or business-related projects. Collects, interprets, and analyzes relevant data or metrics. Performs financial reconciliation of accounts.
- Assists with the preparation of various reports, including deduction registers and payroll cost allocations. Resolves any reporting issues.
- Makes recommendations to align policies and procedures with best practices and capitalize on financial opportunities.
- Performs reconciliations as needed for various accounts and budget types including personnel, positions, payroll, capital projects, and general expenses.
- Follows procedures for compliance with federal state, and local institutional laws and rules.
- Designs complex spreadsheets, with multiple function formulas and links.
- Assists with the preparation of the annual and other periodic budgets for a department, campus, or college. Monitors expenditure and revenue patterns and adjust the budget, as needed.
- Maintains accounting records for capital and expense projects. Gathers data and assists budget team with preparation of annual operating budgets.
- Assists in updating manuals regarding policies, procedures, rules, and standards for the College.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
