A San Diego based construction company with operations throughout Southern California, is looking for a Payroll and Labor Compliance Specialist who will be responsible for managing the processing of payroll on a weekly basis, ensuring accurate and timely compensation for all employees. All candidates must have previous construction accounting experience.
To be successful in this role, you should have in-depth knowledge of of prevailing wage construction.
Requirements:
- High school diploma and/or general education degree (GED).
- 2 years of working experience in accounting within the construction industry is required.
- This role range between AP, office management, and certified payroll.
- Experience in Microsoft Office applications, with strong excel skills.
- Must have excellent attention to detail and a strong desire for accurate written and verbal communication.
- Team player with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Flexibility and willingness to learn the office operations.
- Expert knowledge of QuickBooks, Excel, and all other Microsoft programs and Google drive software
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Knowledge of prevailing wage construction
Responsibilities:
- Processing and entering payroll weekly
- Weekly certified labor compliance reporting
- Ensure all payments are completed on time
- Report on financial status through reports weekly
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date filing systems
- Perform internal audits and assist with external audits
- Ensure compliance with all DIR compliance documentation
- Maintenance of all prevailing wage benefits, reporting, reconciliations, and payments
- Accounts Payable
- Entering weekly invoices into accounting system
- Some Human Resource duties
- Process subcontractor invoices.
- Obtain and track subcontractor certified payroll, ensure compliance, and submit to client labor compliance entity.
- Process subcontractor monthly pay applications.
- Track preliminary notices and obtain applicable releases.

This is a temporary position to fill in for current Payroll Manager who will be on maternity leave from August 2024 - January 2025 with opportunity for continued employment within the company upon performance.
Flexible schedule, part time to full time opportunity, in office (no remote).
