Purpose:
The dietary aid provides assistance in all dietary functions as directed by the supervisor in accordance with established dietary policies and procedures and state regulations
Maintains high standards of quality food production, portion control, food preparation safety and sanitation, adherence to specifications for special diets, properly sanitized and clean dishes and utensils, proper dish-machine temperatures, and good customer service to residents and staff.
Qualifications
Educational and Experience Requirements:
- No prior experience needed. On-the-job training provided.
- Must have adequate ability to read and understand menus, spreadsheets, traycards, menus, and job outlines and cleaning instructions.
- Must be able to communicate effectively.
Other Requirements:
- Must be able to deal tactfully with staff, residents, and visitors.
- Must be able to follow written instructions.
- Must maintain a clean appearance and wear the designated uniform.
- Must maintain a clean and sanitized work area, and must follow all safety policies and procedures.
- Must maintain confidentiality of resident information.
- Must attend required training and education sessions offered by the facility.
- May be required to lift, push, pull, and move equipment, supplies, etc., in excess of fifty (50) pounds throughout the workday.
Equipment Used:
Dishmachine, heated pellet system, juice machine, coffee machine, mixers, blenders, food processors, can openers, garbage disposal, cutting boards, and knives.
Working Conditions:
- May be exposed to infectious waste and disease (including HBV and HIV).
- Will be exposed to heat in kitchen work areas and cold temperatures in food storage/freezer areas.
- Stands, bends, lifts and moves throughout workday.
- May be required to work after regular work hours, on holidays, and weekends.
- May be required to work on shifts other than the shift initially hired for.
