You will contribute to the success of Alexander's Restaurant by providing outstanding customer service to all the guests we encounter. By supporting our company's Noble Purpose, your top priority will be to care about our guests, and the impact we make on their lives. The Serving staff is responsible for ensuring that all guests have the highest quality dining experience possible. All team Members assist in maintaining a profitable department that is also environmentally responsible. Teamwork, Friendliness, Patience, Selflessness, Service, & Pride are the cornerstones to this position.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Exhibits strong menu, beverage, and wine knowledge. Adheres to all state liquor laws. Ensure that all state health regulations are adhered to. Keeps the chefs and managers informed of any issues that might affect quality of service or timing. Completion of all side work as required. Performs additional responsibilities to help the dining room function efficiently. Able to multi-task and handle high volume service demands. Adhere to all company standards, policies, and procedures. Ensures the timing and flow of service is correctly paced. Handles all opening and closing duties required to operate the restaurant and ensures that all stocking is done, tables are properly set, and the dining room is clean. Communicates all necessary and important information with the Food and Beverage Management Team. All other duties as assigned.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS:
- Preferred 2 years of direct server experience in a fine dining or upscale restaurant or hotel setting.
- Proficiency in reading and communicating in English- required.
- Current certification in a nationally recognized program concerning service of alcohol or able to be obtained upon being hired- required.
- Must possess superior food knowledge including varied ingredients, preparation techniques and cuisine styles; must have prior experience in pairing food with wine, spirits, beer, etc.
- Must have prior experience in up-selling and be able to inform guests of dining options resulting in a memorable dining experience.
- Must be physically able to meet the demands of the position such as carrying/lifting heavy trays during service; walk/stand for extended periods of time while of shift; must be able to climb/descend stairs with trays, etc. while on shift.
- Able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds required
- Previous knowledge of touch screen POS system - preferred
