Position Responsibilities:
- The Health Information Support Specialist/ROI must always safeguard and protect the patient’s rights of privacy by ensuring that only authorized individuals have access to the patient’s medical information, ensuring that all release of information is following the medical record request, authorization, company policy and HIPAA statues.
- Required to perform Medical Records Release of Information assignments including navigating software of vendor partner.
- Required to engage in direct customer service with patients, vendors and third-party requestors, performing duties and interacting in a manner designed to project a positive image of the department and the practice.
- Protect the security of medical records to ensure confidentiality is maintained.
- Completes all required PPCP education initiatives and yearly compliance training.
- Consistently demonstrate the ability to respond to changing situations and demands of the workload and department priorities to meet current needs, such as reprioritizing work as necessary. Organize job functions effectively and independently to complete assignments within established time frames.
- Maintains a cooperative relationship among healthcare teams by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; and participating in team problem-solving methods.

Educational/ Experience Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED required, previous experience in health information systems in a hospital/medical office required. Basic computer skills, keyboarding, and telephone skills required.
Licensure/Certification: Preferred but not required, associate’s degree in health information management with credentials, Registered Health Information Technician certification.
Other Requirements:
One year HIM department experience, or medical office clinical or front office experience required. Must be proficient in medical terminology with excellent PC skills including navigating an Electronic Health Record.
