What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director Surgical Services position at Palo Pinto General Hospital?
Job Summary: Performs the primary functions of a professional nurse leader in assessing, planning, directing, and evaluating patient care in an operating room. The Surgical Services Director assumes administrative responsibility for the management of Surgical Services (SS) to include the Operating Room, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Anesthesia Services, Sterile Processing Department, Pre-Surgery Clinic, Gastroenterology Lab, Endoscopy Services. Manages all supplies, and equipment, and supervises all personnel on all units and promotes team efforts with physicians and personnel of other departments. Functions in the various staffing roles of surgical services as necessary.
Qualifications/Reporting:
Required minimum education: Graduate of a Professional Nursing School.
Required minimum experience: Minimum five years diversified perioperative nursing experience; scrubbing and circulating proficiency preferred. Ten years’ experience in surgical services. Three to five years supervisory experience preferred.
Required skills (if applicable): Knowledge of principles, terminology, standard practices, methods, techniques, and operating room procedures. Leadership abilities and effective oral and written communication skills.
Required license/certification: Registered Nurse currently Licensed to practice in the State of Texas. Current in CPR. ACLS certification preferred.
