Your day as a Cook Helper

As a Cook Helper at Palolo Chinese Home, you will play a crucial role in our daily meal service by performing various routine tasks and operations to prepare and cook food items.

Your responsibilities will include following standard practices and procedures in compliance with regulatory agency requirements, reviewing menus, assembling food supplies and equipment, and completing the preparation of assigned menu items.

You will follow recipes and other production information to ensure the quality and consistency of our dishes. Additionally, you will be responsible for labeling, dating, and appropriately storing food items, as well as alerting the cook or supervisor to any equipment issues, food supply needs, or concerns related to sanitation and safety.

To be successful as a Cook Helper at Palolo Chinese Home, there are several essential skills and qualifications required for the role.

First and foremost, a strong knowledge of food preparation, proper knife handling, temperature control, and sanitation is necessary to ensure the safety and quality of our dishes.

The ability to read, write, and speak in English is also crucial for effective communication with team members and to understand and follow recipes, instructions, and production records.

The ability to perform simple mathematical calculations is necessary for portioning and measuring ingredients accurately.
