What are the responsibilities and job description for the Starter/Player Assistant position at Paloma Resorts?
Come join the fun and fast-paced team at Destination Geneva National, where your office is on the golf course and your golf is free! Formerly known as Starter/Ranger, this position performs all duties and tasks that ensures golfers thoroughly enjoy their round from beginning to end by starting on time and maintaining our pace-of-play standards for each course and situation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Greet and assist golfers with anything they need or ask for
Direct play from the 1st Tee – collect receipts, give tee recommendations and course conditions of play, pace of play requirements and clearance to begin play
Inform guests of on-course Food & Beverage opportunities, beverage cart availability
Continuously MONITOR and regulate pace of play on the golf course
Interact and answer questions from golfers and guests
Communicate with golf shop(s) regarding all play and any changes that may occur with scheduled tee times or delays
Coordinate throughout the day with the shop and starter in regard to actual group starting times and manage their round time in conjunction with the expected pace of play
Place and remove any special event requests on the golf course – proximity markers, sponsor signs, etc.
Monitor all golf cart usage to ensure that ALL restrictions are obeyed and followed – 90 degrees, cart path only, etc.
Visually inspect the golf course each day – pass along observations and potential problems (i.e. irrigation leaks, overwear from carts, trash accumulation, etc.)
Contact Professional Staff with any incidents immediately, take notes with names and specifics, and pictures if necessary
Check and refill sand & seed bottles at refill posts
Pick up visible debris and litter from the golf course
Check water stations throughout the day – water levels and cups
Act as a lead-out for shotgun events
Assist the Professional Staff with any event preparations and wrap-up
Perform any duties requested by the Professional Staff
Communication with Golf Shop, assistants, and professional staff regarding golf course status
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Excellent customer service skills and positive demeanor
Experience playing golf
Some knowledge of golf\golf course operations
Valid driver’s license is required
