Welder

Summary: Under minimal supervision, set up, and operate Welding mig and stick.

Skills Required:  Welding, Process Improvement, Verbal Communication, Functional and Technical Skills, Controls and Instrumentation; able to use all required measuring equipment to verify size and hold required tolerances. Supply Management, Tooling, Coordination, Inventory Control, Attention to Detail.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Plans Welding by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
• Preform set-ups on mig and stick machines, including zero and reference points; use a torch to heat and perform heat press, Be able to weld multiple forms of materials; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry.
• Will be taught to set-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and will learn to operate balancer.
• Load and unload parts with a crane/hoist.
• Verify parts with no porosity.
• Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
• Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
• Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
• Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
• Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
• Achieves organization goals by assuming ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value.
• Other duties as assigned and required.

Education and Experience:  2-5 years related experience and /or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience. High school diploma or GED required

Language Skills:  Effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written in the English language.

Mathematical Skills:  Ability to perform basic mathematical computations. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
