Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Medical Receptionist to join our dynamic dermatology practice. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing a fast-paced front desk, providing exceptional customer service, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. The Medical Receptionist will play a key role in creating a welcoming environment for patients, while supporting our providers and medical staff. Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Reception & Scheduling:
    • Greet patients in a friendly and professional manner, ensuring a positive first impression.
    • Schedule appointments, manage patient flow, and verify patient information.
    • Confirm appointments and follow up on cancellations or reschedules.


  • Medical Record Management:
    • Ensure all patient information is accurately entered, updated, and maintained in compliance with privacy regulations (HIPAA).

  • Insurance Verification & Billing Support:
    • Verify patient insurance details.
    • Collect co-pays and assist with billing inquiries or issues.


  • Communication:
    • Answer and direct phone calls, taking detailed messages.
    • Respond to patient portal messages in a timely and courteous manner.


  • Administrative Support:
    • Prepare and manage patient intake forms, consent forms, and other documentation.
    • Assist with inventory management for office supplies.
    • Maintain a clean and organized reception area.


  • Coordination with Medical Staff:
    • Collaborate with providers and clinical staff to ensure timely patient care.

Requirements:

  • Experience:
    • Proven experience working as a medical receptionist, preferably in a dermatology or medical office setting.
    • Proficiency in using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems (experience with Medent is a plus).


  • Skills:
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong ability to multitask.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to handle a high volume of calls and patient traffic in a busy environment.


  • Knowledge:
    • Understanding of insurance processes.
    • Knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality standards.
Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Occasional lifting of office supplies.
