The Controls Engineer reviews and designs engineered systems for various applications in various facilities.

What You'll Do :

  • Responsible for reviewing specifications to ensure the customer's engineering technical needs are met.
  • Able to organize large systems and create clear documentation for both Panatrol's shop and the installation electrician.
  • Review and analyze system requirements, participate in defining, deriving, and allocating hardware requirements.
  • Prepares hardware engineering schematics and parts layout for systems.
  • Perform functional testing of hardware designs and analyzes and interprets performance data.
  • Involved with testing and integration of hardware.
  • Perform power distribution calculations in support of design or analysis of products.
  • Compile documentation / specifications in support of procurement, fabrication, or testing.
  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses errors and suggests suitable repairs or modifications.
  • Maintain current relationships with key manufacturers and vendors to achieve favorable product quotes.
  • Possess the ability to handle a dynamic, fast paced workload with minimum supervision.
  • Analyze and consult with customers on engineering requirements, provide value-added services and products to solve customer problems and see potential sales beyond customers' original request.
  • Prepares submittals for approval.
  • Performs inspections of systems operations during construction, fabrication, and installation.
  • Interprets local and federal engineering statutes and regulations, such as UL & NEC.
  • Possess client management skills : ability to manage customer relationships, perceptions, and expectations.
  • When necessary, provides technical assistance and guidance to project managers and others.
  • Willingness to travel as needed throughout the continental US.
  • Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed, brings problems to the attention of the Safety Director.
  • Maintain a neat and clean appearance and motivated, positive attitude.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements :

  • Bachelor's degree; and 5 years minimum related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Motor control knowledge : starters, MCP, Drives, Motor Control Centers.
  • Power distribution knowledge :
  • Logic diagram basics; PLC I / O Module drawings, general drawing cross referencing, relay logic and relay cross referencing.
  • Knowledge of software languages and integration processes.
  • Proficient in MS Suite.
  • Ability to travel overnight if required.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
