Steel Inventory Clerk, Layout, Fitter and Welder

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• As a Steel Inventory Control Clerk: Person primarily responsible for steel inventory. Will request and receive all steel, verify it (inspect the material and cross-check it to the PO and to the job), stock, color code and mark it. Will also coordinate with accounting, engineering, purchasing and shop personnel to ensure stock availability. Will track movement and scrap, and keep extensive records; Must have both written and computer input skills.
• Maintain a high standard of safety, teamwork, workmanship and housekeeping.

• Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communication in a manner that gets along with co-workers, customers and supervision.
• Must be able to move or lift products and material of varied sizes and weights, sometime in excess of 1000 pounds, being able to move and lift by hand where appropriate and being able to operate lifting machinery where appropriate.
• Perform arc welding in accordance to AWS D1.1.
• Read, fabricate, lay-out, saw and weld from blueprints.
• Operate fabrication machinery and equipment
• Saw and cut all incoming parts using a variety of fabrication tools as required, including an abrasive cut-off saw, a horizontal saw, a vertical band saw and an iron worker.
• Perform layout operations as needed by shearing, rolling, drilling, burning and preparing parts for fabrication.
• Assist in other areas of the shop and warehouse when needed.
• Assist in expediting shop production and perform as directed by shop supervision.
• Perform duties as needed and as directed by Shop supervision.

• Upright tool chest on wheels complete with drawers and lock.
• Set of standard and phillips head screwdrivers.
• Set of combination end wrenches from 3/8” – 3/4".
• Set of sockets from 3/8” – 3/4".
• 8” crescent wrench.
• Channel lock pliers.

• 0-1” micrometer.

• Standard squares.

• Hand hammer.
• Grinding face shield.
• Adjustable wrench.
• All required tool sets must be complete, well-maintained, in good working order and ready for use on the first day of employment.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• At least 1 year of basic arc welding experience.
• Must be trainable, willing to learn new skills and be willing to cross-train to different areas.
• Must be interested in a long-term career and following a career path.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• 3-4 years of experience in any of the following industrial areas: fabrication, layout, saw operation, and/or working extensively with steel both from a production standpoint and inventory standpoint.
• 2-5 years of experience as fitter welder.

HOURS: Monday-Thursday 6:00AM-4:30PM CST, with optional Overtime available on Friday 6:00AM-4:30PM CST.'
