Your Role as a Trade & Customs Coordinator:
Trade Compliance and Classification:
- Review product descriptions and technical data to classify items under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) in compliance with government regulations.
- Maintain and update a database of product classifications as product details or regulations change.
- Work with internal teams to gather accurate product information for classification purposes.
- Assist in analyzing audit findings to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Help develop compliance performance metrics and prepare reports for management.
- Support ad hoc departmental projects to enhance trade compliance processes.
- Use basic tools like Excel to track and monitor trade compliance data, such as duty spend and regulatory impacts.
- Assist in creating visual reports and dashboards in Power BI to summarize compliance metrics and program performance.
- Contribute to identifying cost-saving opportunities and improving processes.
- Familiarity with First Sale, Duty Drawback, and C-TPAT
- Record Retention
- Commercial documents required in an international shipment
- Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Logistics, Data Analytics, or a related field (recent graduates are encouraged to apply).
- 1–2 years of experience in trade compliance, customs, or related fields (internships or academic projects accepted).
- Basic understanding of HTS classification systems and trade compliance regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power BI or similar tools is required.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills to work collaboratively with teams and stakeholders.
- Interest in pursuing a Customs Broker License or related certifications such as Certified Customs Specialist (CCS).
- Familiarity with trade compliance software and emerging technologies in supply chain management is a bonus.
